Swine flu - a media hype?

I have heaved a sigh of relief when our local news had stopped reporting about H1N1. It has to me, become annoying as it seems most of the craze is stirred by the media frenzy. I know that the list of death is still short compared to the other diseases the world struggles through each year. Therefore I don't see any reason why I will allow it to rule over my life!

The fact is, everyone gets sick once in a while, but when the media attaches a name to it, it tends to blow it out of proportion, and people over react. The main point I want to drive is that the H1N1 is not all it's hyped up to be, (spreading fear and panic only through media coverage of the deaths). All it takes to combat the dreaded H1N1 is healthy living and common sense!

There are many ways to help prevent our immune system from having to go to battle. The greatest of these methods is to develop healthy habits by washing our hands, covering our coughs, and covering our mouth when we sneeze. If we work in a place where it is common to shake other people's hands, we can place either a bottle of sanitizer or a box of sanitizing wipes upon our desk. It is also thoughtful to become more polite, giving others their personal space to prevent spreading our germs.

But now a new wave of swine flu panic is sweeping across the States and in the U.K. and to my horror, news of swine flu is back in our local media, duh! It seems that my country is also setting up a crisis committee and we all know that there is but one single body behind it - the World health Organization, with it's corresponding banking dynasties the Rothschilds and the Rockefellers'.

The H1N1 virus or swine flu may sound like a worldwide epidemic, but as we all know, the news tends to over exaggerate the truth. I'm not saying that the swine flu is no big deal, because any virus is a very scary subject, but I don't believe we need to be any more worried about this particular strain of flu than we are with any other common flu strain or any common illness. We just need to do the best we can to not spread the virus to those who will not be able to fight the virus well.

Good luck to us all!

They're dropping like flies all around us again! It's the kids at school that are spreading it. It's a right pig! XXX

Hi Odette,

The media has definately made a bigger deal out of this than it really is. It's symptoms have been much the same as any other strain of the flu. The only difference being that it seems much more contagious and has a longer duration. I beleive this is only because many have not been exposed to it before. I'm not sure if it was the swine that my son had, but he kicked it within 24 hours. I'd like to contribute that to healthy living and eating habits...lots of fresh fruits and vegies from the garden. Of course, I also preach to them about washing their hand ALOT! So, will I get my kids vaccinated? NO WAY!!

Have a great day Odette!

We have a smaller population though much larger area than you Odette. As of Sat there had been 70 confirmed deaths from swine flu. Here it is only confirmed if by autopsy. This flu is unusual. 19 of the deaths have been to teens 12 to 18. Over 2/3 of the people hit ( confirmed to be swine flu via cultures grown from drawn blood. ) Are women. The teen death Sat was the first death from it in my province it has been hitting our west worst. Natives also are getting it in larger percentages then they make up of the population. In Winnepeg last week at a single hospital 148 people were on breathing life support. From suspected cases. ( Unfortuately cultures don't grow overnight )

Unlike most flu's this is hitting younger people. Normally the elderly are at risk. Apparently this flu has some components not seen since the flu outbreak of 1956 as a result those 52 and over are carrying some natural immunity. The median age for confirmed cases is 32. Median being half over and half under where average is total all the ages and divide by total number of cases.
The panic from parents taking anyone who coughs to emergency is putting a strain on our system.

We have two flu shots out this year the normal one and one for H1N1 this is the 1st time I have heard of us needing to go outside the country for vaccine ( Austrilia ) we didn't have enough cases to begin culturing our own in time.

I imagine more will die from regular flu then H1N1 it will hit those flu usually hits. However I wouldn't dismiss it completely as it kills very fast. WWI 1914 to 1918 killed 10 million people. Military and civilian. In 2 months of 1918 Spanish flu by itself killed 18 million.

That was pre-antibiotics but still. With more and more illness becoming immune to them one will eventually be immune.

btw; the Rockefellers are in oil and banking. The Rotchilds lost everything in WWII.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Filipinos and all they are going through. That spider is still on my window. It ate a small bug this morning.

Hi Odette, I think that it is causing a great deal of fear mainly because so many children have died from swine flu. In the past month, we have had 31 deaths in our area from swine flu. It is good to take every precaution that you can, but there are still airborne bacteria that we have no control over. I really don't think that there is any way to keep from catching it- you could pick up the germs anywhere.
Stay healthy!
If you are sick, stay home!
Hugs, Mimi

Sid, Mimi, Tracey,
I am not aware of the number of deaths from swine flu in your country. so maybe there is a cause to panic afterall? we seem to be always the last to feel it's effect. but with filipino diaspora, and with the coming holiday season, many of my countrymen will be coming home, and some of them may be carrying the virus.
let's hope then that this will also come to pass like the first wave.

This is all just global fear mongering. Sure, the lab cultured swine flu is dangerous but, so are the rest of the viruses. When my brother and I were in grade school, we caught a flu every winter. We'd get so sick, we wanted to die just to end the suffering.

I had not gotten the flu since junior high (about 26 years) until I ignorantly listened to my doctor and got a flu shot a couple years ago. I had forgotten how bad it was. Since then, no more flu. This scare tactic is old news being overly hyped.

In America, our mainstream media is controlled by our government, and only the Sheeple here buy all their B.S. If they'd do a little research, most would find the truth about many things the media lies about.

My last two posts "The Final Countdown" and "If You Value Your Life..." have some of the facts about these man made diseases. As well as the one titled "Mass Hysteria or Mass Production", which focuses a little more on the WHO.

If you're one of those Sheeple who are squeamish about the real world, you most likely suffer from the "Fuzzy Bunny" syndrome. What's even sadder, you actually believe all this garbage. In that case, please don't read them.

You might have nightmares about your Bunny turning into a monster who eats brains, and who's farts are causing the polar caps to melt.

Sorry, That's another global lie for a whole nother post.
