Star struck.

Of course, everyone should be allowed to remove themselves from the real world every now and again for the sake of enjoyment, right?

Therefore, I listen to music, read books, play online games, and watch movies because it adds atmosphere to the repetitiveness of every day life. But hey, nothing beats watching the Oscar’s or the Academy award!

I gape in awe at the array of beautiful people parading down the red carpet leading into large auditoriums. I still get star struck as the Hollywood's elite posture themselves from the start of the show till the end. For where on earth can I see more glitz, glamor, and money in three hours top?

Sure, it's all rather dazzling, really, not to mention the best distraction for a mundane evening. All the awards, acceptance speeches, tears, deity thanking - darn, I am just happy to switch my brains off and simply go for the ride!

And who wouldn't get excited for an opportunity to see our favorite movie star, not in character, but, as a person? Who wouldn't enjoy watching the appearance of perfection?

I know, I know, it is escapism, pure and simple. But it's not necessarily a bad thing, no?

You see, I am perfectly happy to be able to share a night with the gods of Hollywood.

So, Cheers!

I love Steve Martin! I have every one of his movie in my collection.
But I have no love for Alec Baldwin...
I'm going to tivo the Awards so I can watch them tomorrow with no interruptions.
Enjoy yourself, Odette!

oops, they forgot to include Farah Fawcett in their "in memorian" segment... that's an awful snag!

I just read about it later, and look at the pictures of the dresses! It bores me to watch any sort of award show...xxx

Odette, Alice in Wonderland was really enjoyable!
Go and see it with your boys! Johnny Depp was great!

I give the Oscars three thumbs down. It's just an opportunity for a bunch of people with a little talent and more money than they need to pat each other on the back. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy movies. But your average hard-working Joe, sometimes with two or three jobs, doesn't get an his or her own show with golden awards cast or people with no genitals.

Randy,
oh yes many of them actors/actresses are obscenely rich. maybe that's why its a treat when the host would poke fun at them! and also i want to see how the losers will react. i don't know, but I am afraid, i have a wicked side in me that loves to watch other people's embarrassment or see how the great and the good react to losing. eew!

I totally agree with you. I don't care what they say. The Oscars is something I look forward to every year and it's a ritual I will never let go of. Love them all.
Even if I am upset that 'Avatar' didn't win best film and 'Inglourious Basterds' best screenplay.
