The sound that was...

This was sent to me in an email and I am sharing this with you. Do you still remember the 7 kids in "The Sound of Music"? Well they had a reunion after 40 years and see how well they aged.

Julie Andrews turned 69 and to commemorate her 69th birthday on October 1, actress/vocalist Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My Favorite Things" from the legendary movie "The Sound Of Music."

Here are the actual lyrics she used:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillac's and cataracts, and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things..

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short, shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Of course, she got a standing ovation for this!!!

That was cute. Did she really sing that? That (and The Music Man) were two of my fav movies as a kid. I would visit my aunt in Texas every summer and watch those movies...those and Lonesome Dove.

I am fine Penny, it's just that my internet connection at the office isn't working well. it keep getting disconnected that i can't practically finish reading nor write a comment to any of the blogs i follow. it's a surprise if i stay online for 20 min a day. this is frustrating!!!

I love that movie!
The cast members all look great!
My internet connection has been cutting on and off all week, too.

Where is the Baroness Von Shroder as played by Milena Laszlo and where is Christopher Plummer as the Captain and patriarch of the family?
He sported a whistle until Julie Andrews came into the pic... I like reunions- but by the looks of the group the standard of living has changed from 1965 to now.Nice smiles and still a happy group.
